I just received this 5-pack freebie of the 5 Vegas 'A' Atomic as part of my order from Cigar International. CI always seems to be schlepping the 5-Vegas brand and I was reluctant to spend any of my own hard-earned money on this supposedly great bargain brand. Since free is a price I can't pass up, I was happy to try the 'A' Atomic.
It's once again a beautiful Saturday morning in Southern California and I've got my strong cup of joe. I unwrap one of the atomics from its cedar casing. The wrapper is a gorgeous Costa Rican maduro wrapper. If this thing tastes as good as it looks, we'll definitely have a winner. After the initial light, the Atomic gave off a very strong earthy taste. But after a few puffs, the wonderful sweetness that I love about maduro wrappers started to come through. The burn is even and the draw is good. Of all the cigars I've smoked recently, this one really goes well with my cup of coffee. With its own hints of coffee, this is like smoking a cup of cafe con leche. A bit of an exaggeration but you get my point.
You can purchase a box of the toro sized Atomic for $72 at Cigar International. The box comes with 20 sticks and they're having a special where they'll throw in an extra five cigars.
